Profile

Professor Mitchener teaches courses in macroeconomics and economic history. His research interests include the effects of banking supervision and regulation on financial stability, the macroeconomic impact of credit booms, the enforcement of sovereign debt claims, and the process economic growth and convergence within the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries. Professor Mitchener's research has been published in the Journal of Economic History, the Journal of Economic Growth, and Research in Economic History.
