Program Description
This online certificate program provides IT professionals with a solid foundation in the varied aspects of project management and gives IT leaders the tools to gain a competitive edge in advancing the IT function within their organization.

At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to create:

  • a project life cycle
  • a statement of work
  • a work breakdown structure
  • a schedule, a budget and a risk management plan

The program is offered in a unique collaborative online learning environment using the "Semi-Synchronous™" instructional design methodology that focuses on learning through interaction with people. Answers and insights are found within the context of online discussion and not on a pre-programmed screen. You will interact with other professionals from around the world and our expert instructors. No special software is required nor do participants need to be online at a specific time. CEU's are available upon request.

Program Format
The program consists of five-modules and 35-hours where participants login once a day Monday through Thursday at any time of the day that is convenient to them. Participants work together in groups over a five-week period to develop a project plan for a real project and are encouraged to bring current projects to the class.

They should plan to spend up to 5-hours per week reviewing the course material and up to an additional 3-hours per week completing the group assignments. The program offers an optional instruction to Microsoft Project or Primavera's SureTrak. Students will also receive an introduction to the Semi Synchronous™ learning systems the week prior to the first module.

Instructors provide feedback daily via a discussion board and written comments on assignments and project plans. They are available for telephone consultation by appointment. Although this course is much more flexible than a classroom environment, it is not self-paced. Your fellow participants will expect you to work with them on assignments and projects.

Who Should Attend
IT professionals who have been identified to become project managers, those who currently have project responsibilities, or those whose work activities are so varied that project planning and management skills are critical for success.
