Lectures
On
special occasions, classes are shortened to enable the MBA student
and faculty community to come together. This schedule varies slightly,
so for your convenience, the times for these events are listed below.
Shortened
Class Schedule
5:30 - 6:20 pm (5:30 pm class)
6:30
- 7:30 Leavey Lecture
7:30 - 8:00 Reception - St. Ignatius lawn
8:00 - 8:50 pm (7:05 pm class)
9:00 - 9:50 pm (8:30 pm class)
At
the beginning of each quarter, MBA students gather as a student
body to hear from business leaders, industry observers, and renowned
scholars at the quarterly Leavey Lecture presentation. During the
evening, MBAs are offered perspectives which may challenge long-held
notions, and stimulate thinking for weeks to come. Presenters take
questions, and often hold impromptu Q & A sessions long after
formal part of the program is over.
In
addition, students welcome the opportunity to come together in a
single evening, to renew acquaintances and strengthen friendships
with fellow classmates and faculty alike.
Among
the distinguished speakers in past years have been Intel's senior
vice president, Les Vadasz, Hatim Tyebji, CEO of Verifone, economist
(and Nobel prize winner) John Harsanyi, and Cheryl Shavers, former
Under Secretary for Technology for the Clinton Administration.
