MBA Program Again in Top 20
The MBA program of Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business continues to be among the best part-time programs in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report. The MBA program was ranked 19th in the country by the magazine in its annual "Best Graduate Schools" rankings for 2002, which are posted on its Web site, www.usnews.com. It is the fifth consecutive appearance in the nation's Top 20 for SCU's MBA program.

Entrepreneurs Honored at SCU
The Leavey School of Business and its Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University today announced its second annual IPO Hall of Fame. The group being recognized this year includes 55 men and five women who have been a corporate officer for a company that held a successful Initial Public Offering from September 1997 to February 15, 2001. Last year, the University honored 40 entrepreneurs.

Advances in Technology, Agriculture and Biology Pose New Ethical Challenges
More than 100 business ethicists from across the U.S. and a half dozen foreign countries wrapped up a three-day conference at Santa Clara University today with a newfound sense of urgency for their efforts. "Web-based challenges to ethics - in particular the legal-ethical distinctions in cases such as Napster - show us how ethicists have not been as pro-active as lawyers" in tackling issues raised by new technologies, said SCU management professor Martin Calkins, S.J.

Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hosts Investing Conference

A two-day conference for early stage investors begins Monday, October 23, in San Francisco, sponsored by SCU's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) and its partner, International Business Forum. The event brings together investors and CEOs and CFOs of established and start-up companies to investigate the changing nature of early stage investing. Webvan CEO Speaks at Science, Technology, and Society Symposium

University Day for Faculty-Staff Planning and Training

Monday, October 16, is SCU's annual University Day, where faculty and staff take time to review annual plans and upgrade skills. All undergraduate and graduate business classes are cancelled. Most offices will be open with limited hours.

Intel Executive to Examine "The New Internet Economy" on October 19
Sean Maloney, senior vice president and director of the sales and marketing group at Intel, will examine the impact the Internet has had on the global economy on Thursday, October 19, at 7:30 a.m. on the Santa Clara University campus.

Julie Krugman has been appointed assistant director of MBA Career Services in the Leavey School of Business. Administrative offices in the School of Business will be closed Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and 4. MBA summer school classes are cancelled for Monday and Tuesday as well.
