Services : Staff : Extraordinary Staff Nominations for 2002

Three awards recognizing the contributions of staff to the Leavey School of Business will be presented at the May 22 Town Hall by Dean Barry Posner. Students and faculty are asked to submit nominations by May 10 to the Dean's Office. (See previous year's award recipients here.)

Extraordinary Team Award
Presented to the group (two or more people within the School of Business) that best exemplies teamwork: clearly identified and communicated purpose; commitment to that purpose; measurable movement toward fulfilling that purpose. Note: teams may be "official," as in an office staff, or "ad hoc," where staff members cut across department lines. A team's purpose can be either on-going or short-term.

Extraordinary Service Award
Presented to the individual who exhibits a commitment to service in interacting with students, faculty, staff, departments, the School or University.

Extraordinary Leadership Award
Presented to the staff member who has inspired, taught, and encouraged others toward achieving the goals they share.

Nominations may be made by submitting a brief paragraph about how the nominee meets the criteria. As an example: "Suzanne Smith deserves the Extraordinary Service Award because she has made sure each first-year student coming into the department office for advising is aware of the new policies on declaring a major. She collected all the e-mail addresses of the first-years and e-mailed a confirmation of their advising appointments. In the reminders, she attached a checklist she had found useful, along with a suggestion that students check the website of the majors they were considering prior to the appointment. With this assistance, both our students and our faculty are helped along in the advising process."
